Billing and payment methods

Applies to: Billing & payments  |  Difficulty: Beginner  |  Time: ~5 minutes

The Client Portal lets you securely save a payment method (card/PayPal), set a default method, and enable Auto-Pay so future invoices are paid automatically on the due date.

Accepted methods & security

Secure payments We work with secure payment gateways that tokenize your method. We don’t store full card numbers in the Client Portal.

Add a new payment method

Add card

  1. Log in at https://secure.gaugehosting.com/clientarea.php.
  2. Go to Billing → Payment Methods (or Account → Payment Methods).
  3. Click Add New, enter your card details (or choose PayPal), and Save.
  4. (Optional) Check Set as Default if you want this used for Auto-Pay and one-click invoice payments.

Set or change your default method

  • On Billing → Payment Methods, pick the method you want and click Make Default.
  • If you don’t see the method you need, add it first, then set it as default.

Enable Auto-Pay

Auto-Pay toggle Auto-Pay charges your default payment method automatically on each invoice’s due date.

  1. Ensure you have a saved method and it’s set as Default.
  2. On the same page, locate the Auto-Debit / Auto-Pay setting and toggle it ON.

Tip: On an individual invoice, you’ll usually see whether it’s scheduled for Auto-Pay. If not, you can pay it manually and Auto-Pay will apply to future ones.

Update or replace an existing method

  • Update expiry/billing address: open the method and edit supported fields; click Save.
  • Replace a card number: add a new card, set it as Default, then remove the old one.

Remove a payment method

  • You can remove any non-default method from Billing → Payment Methods.
  • If a method is Default, switch another method to Default first.

Troubleshooting

  • Declined / 3-D Secure prompt: confirm your billing address & ZIP, retry, and complete any bank verification prompts.
  • Auto-Pay didn’t run: make sure Auto-Pay is toggled ON, a valid Default method is saved, and the invoice wasn’t already overdue prior to enabling.
  • PayPal not showing: some gateways appear only at payment time; select PayPal on the invoice screen and you’ll be redirected to link it.
